Transition
Between 1 March 2016 and 28 February 2018, businesses will change over to the new rules at different times. During this period, some businesses will continue to operate under the Food Act 1981 and Food Hygiene Regulations. When complete, this part of the web page will give you information about when businesses need to make changes, and how you should regulate them in the meantime.
Transition resources in development:
- Existing auditors and food safety officers that will be automatically approved to operate under the new Act for a limited period
- Businesses operating under Food Hygiene Regulations after 1 March 2016
- VIP businesses with ‘deemed’ food control plans
- New businesses and businesses that transition before their sector
